Borough Cable TV Channel:

The Cable TV Channel provides public, education, and local government programming for and about Oakland, NJ.  Programming includes televised council meetings and borough proceedings, local events and sports, and a televised bulletin board.  The Oakland Communications Commission (OCC) has also been producing a new show for Access TV called Exit 58 LIVE!.

Community Bulletin Board:

A televised Community Bulletin Board for borough announcements, meeting information, promotion of borough events and fundraiser awareness.  Emergency information and school closings or delayed openings will also be shown.

Submitting Videotapes for Airing on Oakland's Cable TV Channel:

Residents may submit tapes of pre-recorded events for airing on the Cable TV channel.  Programming will be scheduled on a first-come first-served basis.

Training:

From time-to-time Cablevision offers a Cable & Video Production training class for volunteers and current contributors who want to make better quality productions.  Let us know if you're interested in attending training.

Rules for Submission of a Videotape

  1. Videotapes must be submitted 2 (two) weeks prior to airtime.

  2. Record in SP mode on your camcorder to achieve the best quality original recording.

  3. The program must be continuous without any blank sections or breakup in the video track.

  4. Videotapes that are submitted for broadcast should be new VHS format videotape recorded in SP mode only for the best playback picture quality.

  5. Before recording the VHS copy that you are going to submit, fast forward and rewind the videotape all the way in the VCR that you are going to use for recording the copy.

  6. Videotapes must have 10 seconds of black leader, 10 seconds of black trailer, and only snow after the black trailer to facilitate proper programming of our broadcast switching system. (Snow is the lack of any video signal at all on a videotape, snow is what you see when you playback a new videotape that has not had any video recorded on it-- see diagram below.)

  7. A Videotape Submission Agreement must be completed, signed, and submitted with each tape.
