Welcome! The Senior Center, a municipal organization, has served and supported older adults in Oakland since 1991. The Mission of the Oakland Senior Center is to promote the physical and educational well-being of older adults and to facilitate their participation in all aspects of community life. The Senior Center has established itself as a community focal point where older adults can come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in and with the center and community. Director: Rose Burik The Senior Center is a facility to be utilized for and by senior residents of the Borough of Oakland. It entitles every senior resident of the age of 55 and older, who functions independently or who has a companion to provide whatever individual assistance is needed, to participate in activities and programs at the Center. Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 4 PM. Trips and special events may be scheduled during the week and evenings. The center offers various types of exercise.
A registered nurse provides blood pressure screenings and consultation every 2nd and 4th Monday from 1-3 PM. Services Transportation is available for certain programs including shopping trips scheduled for Saturdays and Mondays. The mini-bus is equipped to accommodate the disabled. Special arrangements can be made for transportation with reservations made in advance for this service.
